Yoga Symbology
Yet this is health: To have a body functioning so perfectly that when its few simple needs are met it never calls attention to its own existence. ~Bertha Stuart Dyment
Optimally, when aligned perfectly, a yoga pose is virtually effortless. By physically stacking the body in place, the muscles work naturally to hold the bones in alignment and the energy of the pose lights up the chakra system. Eventually, the body is sustained by its internal power and energy rather than by its strength and physicality. This is when the true healing power of yoga is accessed at its fullest.
One way to reach this state of bliss in yoga practice is to tap into the energetic power held within each yoga asana. Finding the energetic power of the pose lies in the symbology of the pose, from its name, to the potential totem animal power, to the action taken to initiate the pose. Once one knows what energetic power each yoga asana holds, it is easier to access that power and attract it to one's life.

The strength and ease of a gorilla, its strong and calm presence, are accessed in padahastasana (gorilla pose). By folding in half, one is folding into the Self, connecting with the true essence of power which is only found inside.
In The Symbology of Yoga workshop, TeriLeigh will breakdown the symbolism that is held within each pose in a typical power vinyasa yoga practice. By understanding the symbolism of the pose, students will then tap into the energetic power of the pose that is the medicine inside the pose to facilitate healing.
