“It is possible that we have been brought together at this time because we have profound truths to teach each other. Toward that end, I offer the wisdom of the African ancestors so that Westerners might find the deep healing they seek. From an indigenous perspective, the individual psyche can be healed only by addressing one's relationships with the visible worlds of nature and community and one's relationships with the invisible forces of the ancestors and Spirit allies.
The spark of this ancestral flame, which I have brought to the land of the stranger, is now burning brightly. Increasingly, I have been and will be encouraging westerners to embody these traditions as a testimony to the indigenous capacity to assert itself with dignity in the face of modernity. In this way the ancestors will know that this medicine has found a true home- that it is more than an honored guest."

A private cowry shell divination with TeriLeigh is conducted in the manner designed by Malidoma Some. TeriLeigh has completed Malidoma Some's 2 year intensive training, which included sessions on conducting cowry shell divination. This personal session is "tailored to assist you in living more harmoniously in the natural world and in relationships with the spirit world. You may be assigned personal rituals designed to support your growth and your deepening relationship with the natural and spiritual worlds" (malidoma.com).
After a brief interview in which the client expresses the intention for the divination, the client will spread a small pile of cowry shells and other small items on a divination cloth decorated with the Dagara medicine wheel. Where the items land on the cloth and in relation to each other offer information for the client from the Spirit realm.
Rituals prescribed during a cowry shell divination may include offerings to nature or other ritual to deepen one's relationship with the ancestors and the spirit world. TeriLeigh may also provide specific ritual to be conducted through yoga practice to those clients who maintain a regular yoga practice.
