"If you can grasp the idea that money is not real, you will grow rich faster."
~Robert T. Kiyosaki~
Many people often say that spiritual work and teaching should not cost money. Yet churches depend upon the tithing and monetary contributions of their congregations. Even in indigenous tribes, medicine men are "paid" in some form of exchange or another; oftentimes clients pay in the form of providing meals or food to the shaman. Spiritual teacher and West-African Shaman Malidoma Some' teaches about the importance of an energetic exchange. He says, "One wouldn't go to a store and ask the shopkeeper nicely to give you a pencil in exchange for your gratitude. The shopkeeper expects compensation. The same goes for Spirit and our ancestors. When you make a request, an offering is expected in return." Although spiritual riches cannot be measured by the digits in one's savings account, an exchange of energy is necessary.
