Mission

Transformation Yoga & Fitness and TeriLeigh LLC have teamed up to provide a quality Teacher Training Certification and Yoga Immersion Program designed to challenge, train, and develop exceptional yoga students and instructors. We judge quality based on the integrity of our instructors, the breadth and depth of our offering including classes, workshops and special events, as well as our instructor training and development programs. Further, we strive to inspire our yoga/fitness community to explore “the edge” in a safe and joyous way. Lastly, we are ever mindful that yoga and fitness is most effective when it’s fun. Week by Week Breakdown of Topics Covered - The Fun Course Catalog

May 4-9  History & Philosophy of Yoga
Ted Schmidt, average every day high school teacher who knows how to educate and entertain those who don't want to learn, today's teenagers, will bring the history and philosophy of yoga alive in this interactive slide show presentation. This is not your everyday time line and heady philosophy lecture. You will be captivated by a play by play action telling of scriptural myths and legends, a simple yet profound journey to developing your own definition of yoga, and a method to meditation that works for even the most heavy headed over-thinking monkey brained minds.

May 11-16 Nutrition & Food
Frank McSwain, local food guru, will introduce a yogic approach to nutrition and eating through exploration of gardening, backyard farming, organic kitchens, and exposure to some of the Roaring Fork Valley's best in the way of all things edible. We will farm, we will cook, we will dine, and yes, we may even meet a woman who embodies yoga through cooking, MOM.

May 18-23 Anatomy & Physiology
Alenjandro Murin spends his days, and sometimes even his dream-world manipulating and massaging the muscles of athletes, yogis, and yes, even sore lower back muscles of everyman "plumber Joe". He's kneaded the best and worst of our knots and created this lesson plan to teach every medical student's nightmare basic class to the not so scientific minded. Learn how our muscles and bones work together and how yoga poses shift and change the functions of our bodies without the rote memorization and headache inducing quizzes and exams.

June 1-6 Energetics of Yoga
So the lady with the angry scowl on her face got too close to you in line at the grocery store and invaded your personal space bubble. This week, TeriLeigh will teach you about your own "personal space bubble", how yoga helps to strengthen its boundaries, and how you can read the energy bubbles of those around you. Wouldn't it be great if we could all live in our own little yogic bubbles all the time? This week shows you how yoga brings you one step closer to that type of utopia.

June 8-13 Assisting & Adjusting
Ever had that experience where a yoga teacher put her hands on you to shift your pose and you felt that magic "AHHH"? Or maybe you know there is so much to the alignment of poses, but while in the class with sweat dripping off your nose, your brain is just too fried to comprehend. This week takes a posture clinic approach to breaking down each and every pose and how it looks and works differently on each and every different body shape and type in a class. Teachers will learn how to mold human bodies like clay in hands-on adjusts while yoga immersion students will receive assist after assist, ah after ah, like a yoga massage.

September 7-12 Communication & Teaching
Blah Blah Blah!  The number one fear, even above death, is the fear of speaking in public. As yoga students, we know that most of what a teacher says to us goes in one ear and out the other, and we can only hope lands in our bodies somewhere along the way.  This week we will explore the power of language, effectiveness of public speakers, both past and present, and how to get our voices and our intentions not only into the heads of our listeners, but into their experiences in their bodies and their worlds.  Teacher trainers will have tons of practice in simple exercises to enhance their teaching while yoga immersion students will have the rare chance of talking back to their yoga teachers, opportunities to ask questions and get answers.

September 14-19 Sequencing and Posture Clinics
UGH!  I don't have time to get to a class, and this nagging pain between my shoulder blades really needs a stretch.  ARGH- while practicing on my own I discovered that triangle pose after camel pose is a prescription for a passing out disaster!  This week we will explore how to string 3-4 poses together to target specific issues, as well as how to keep classes interesting with variety that doesn't compromise integrity. Teachers will learn how to keep class fresh, and safe, while yoga immersion students will learn how to develop a safe and simple home practice for those days getting to the studio is simply impossible.

September 21-27 Business and Ethics of Yoga
Did you know that in the yoga industry "Can we meet for a cup of tea?"  is code for a yoga student asking a yoga instructor for free therapy?  Yes, yoga can get sticky and gooey in the world of boundaries, and can easily get confused with psycho-spiritual therapy without the hassle of health insurance co-pays.  This week we will explore the yays and nays of yoga student and yoga instructor boundaries.  Teachers will dive deeper into the world of building a business and making money at their trade, while yoga immersion students will gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be "of service" in the yoga world.

October 5-17 Practicum, Finals & Graduation
Pulling it all together, what does all this mean anyway, and how do I go on without the structure of a regular program to keep me on track?  These weeks prepare the yoga teachers to step into the big bad world of teaching yoga and leading a community, and prepare yoga immersion students for the next step in their practice.  While teacher trainers will teach class after class, Yoga Immersion students will have multiple opportunities to witness and support the growth of their teachers, recognizing the equal give and take in any relationship.
